Child Protection Policy

At Havant & District Holiday Venture (“HDHV”) our first concern will always be the welfare of the children/young people attending the playscheme. HDHV takes the welfare of children/young people attending the scheme very seriously. It is our hope that the guidelines in this policy will never have to be used, but we must all be aware of the issues surrounding child abuse and take steps to protect our children/young people.

HDHV aims to provide a safe environment for the children/ young people by:

  • CRB checking all volunteers and staff
  • Taking up references on all volunteers and staff
  • Discouraging one on one situations
  • Ensuring all staff and volunteers receive Child Protection training

All staff and volunteers should be alert to signs of abuse. All suspicions and allegations of abuse should be taken seriously and reported immediately to the Leader or the Deputy. The Leader or Deputy will then take responsibility for ensuring that the situation receives correct attention and will notify the appropriate agencies. Should the Leader or Deputy not be available, and if the child/young person is in immediate danger, Social Services or the Police can be contacted direct.
